Summer kick-off 5k run!

On May 29th, I ran my first 5k in Grand Haven with two other ladies from my church. We started training 2 months ago on Saturday mornings and used the "couch to 5k" program. After the first week I was convinced I would never be able to run 2 miles, let alone 3. I have never been a runner and have never enjoyed it. Well, I managed to run the 5k course in 31:53 and was very happy with my time, although my biggest goal was not to have to walk. I can't say that I actually enjoy running now, but maybe I detest it just a little bit less.

Here's a picture that Mark's cousin took of Alyssa at our family get together on Memorial Day. We were so glad the rain held off so the kids could run around and play.
The girls have been spending lots of time outside creating lots of art on our driveway.

We picked up these golf clubs for a mere $5.99 at Target. They've already gotten a lot of use although Mark says we are playing more hockey with them than actual golf.

Finally warm enough to get out the swimsuits. Kaylee wasn't too crazy about the pool and would rather cup her hands to drink the water rather than to swim in it. We learned last night that she loves to walk through the sprinklers -- fully clothed.

Alyssa has been seeing the numerous advertisements for Shrek III. I had my reservations about taking a 2.5 year old to a movie, but we went on a weekday to the first showing and as you can see, she did just fine. She stayed awake for the whole movie and hogged all of my popcorn. Nice to have a little time alone with her for a change too.
