Waving bye-bye! We were all ready to get out of the ER!

On Friday afternoon, Mark took Bryce in to see his pediatrician. On this day, Bryce had some unexplained swelling and the doctor was concerned and sent Mark and Bryce straight to the ER. Meanwhile, I'm at work in Muskegon and get the call from Mark that I should head home and meet them in the ER. Once I finally arrived, Mark and Bryce were in ultrasound. Once they got back, Mark filled me in on the details while we awaiting the results. The swelling turned out to be nothing serious but the ER doc wanted to continue to monitor Bryce as he was extremely irritable and uncomfortable. After a 2 hour nap, Bryce woke up still fussing. The doc came back in and then thought his belly felt hard and ordered an abdominal xray. Minutes later, the lab came in to draw some blood. Finding a vein on a little boy who has barely eaten anything in days proved to be difficult but once the needle was in, eventually they got the blood they needed. Once calmed down from that, it was time for the xray. The xray showed that Bryce was very backed up. Two suppositiories and a couple hours later, we were finally discharged at 10:30pm with instructions to go back to the doctor on Saturday morning. 8 hours in the ER in a room with no windows, a small TV, and a little boy who could not be put down, made for a very long day!
The visit Saturday morning included Alyssa who had been running a low fever and had been congested for 2 weeks. She was diagnosed with an ear infection. Bryce checked out okay at the doctor, his belly felt better but we were told that his blood work had showed Bryce had elevated liver enzymes. He had a low fever on Saturday but we were sent back home and were told to come back Monday morning for a follow up.
So that takes us to today...Bryce has no fever today but is still extremely uncomfortable and congested. The doctor believes he has viral pneumonia as the antibiotic has not seemed to be working. So, we just need to wait this out. We need repeat blood work later this week to find out what's going on with his liver enzymes. So, lots of rest and we'll see what Thursday brings! Prayers are appreciated!
